From strongest to weakest in Texas Hold'em at Kedai888
One of the most important concepts in poker – and one that many new players at Kedai888 tend to overlook – is table position. Your position determines when you act in each betting round. Acting later gives you a significant informational advantage.
The best position — you act last after the flop, turn & river.
The second-best position at the table. Frequently used to steal blinds.
Acts first after the blinds. The weakest position — play tighter here.
Posts forced blinds. Acts last pre-flop, first post-flop.
Kedai888 Tip: Players in late position (BTN, CO) can play a wider range of hands because they have more information about their opponents' actions before it is their turn to act.
Key concepts that separate consistent winners from everyday players
One of the most common mistakes new players make at Kedai888 is playing too many hands. Hand selection discipline is the foundation of long-term winning play.
AA, KK, QQ, JJ, AKs – Your strongest hands. Always play these aggressively.
TT, 99, AQs, AJs, KQs – Strong hands, but play them carefully depending on your position.
88, 77, ATo, KJs, QJs – Speculative hands that need good position to be profitable.
72o, 83o, J4o and similar hands – No value. Fold and wait for something better.
Bankroll management is the key difference between players who stay in the game for the long haul and those who go bust quickly — regardless of how skilled they are.
Pot odds help you make mathematically sound decisions on every call. If your equity exceeds the pot odds ratio, the call is profitable — a positive EV play.
Example at Kedai888: Flop with open-ended flush draw = 15 outs × 4 = 60% equity on the flop. Almost always worth a call or raise.
"Tilt" is a poker player's biggest enemy. It happens when a loss or bad beat triggers an emotional reaction that clouds your rational decision-making.
Feeling frustrated, playing faster, and betting bigger for no clear reason — these are all signs that you are starting to tilt.
There is no shame in leaving the table when you feel you are not in the right emotional state to play your best.
Decide before you play – if you lose RM X in a single session, stop automatically. Stick to this rule without exception.
A bad session is a normal part of poker. The tables at Kedai888 will always be there tomorrow. A heavy loss in one night can take weeks to recover from.

If there is one game that truly tests every dimension of human thinking — poker is the answer. Mathematics, psychology, emotional control, patience, and the courage to make big decisions under pressure — all of it is required to succeed at the poker table. That is what sets poker apart from every other casino game, and it is exactly what makes it so popular among serious players at Kedai888.
"In poker, you are not playing against the cards — you are playing against people. And people can be understood, analysed, and beaten."
– Principles of Professional PokerMalaysia's online poker community has grown rapidly over the past few years. Players from all walks of life — university students in Kuala Lumpur squeezing in a session during free periods, young professionals from Petaling Jaya looking for a mental challenge after work, and retirees in Penang who have been playing poker for decades — are all finding their place on digital platforms like kedai888, making access to quality poker tables easier than ever.
One of the things poker players at kedai888 value most is the level playing field that online play provides. At a physical table, factors like appearance, body language, and the ability to stare down an opponent can all affect the dynamics of the game. Online at kedai888, everything comes down to decisions — how much you bet, when you raise, and when you fold. This makes online poker more meritocratic and fairer for everyone.
For players just starting their poker journey at Kedai888, the best advice is to begin with a small buy-in and focus on learning rather than winning. Use the daily freerolls as a "practice bank" — you risk no real money, yet the experience you gain is invaluable. Read up on basic strategy, observe how other players act, and take note of what each session teaches you.
Texas Hold'em remains the most popular variant at Kedai888 — and for good reason. The rules can be picked up in an hour, but true mastery takes years of experience. That makes it the ideal game for players of all skill levels. Beginners can learn as they play, while seasoned players always have room to sharpen their game further.
From a financial opportunity standpoint, poker tournaments at Kedai888 offer exceptional value compared to other casino games. In slots or roulette, the house always holds a mathematical edge. In poker tournaments, Kedai888 only takes a small tourney fee (rake), and the rest is purely player vs. player competition. This means a sufficiently skilled player can theoretically generate a positive long-term return from poker – something that simply isn't possible in luck-based casino games.
That said, it's important to remember that while poker involves a significant degree of skill, there is also an unavoidable element of variance. Strong hands can lose to bad beats, and players making mathematically correct decisions can still run at a loss in the short term. This is precisely why bankroll management and emotional discipline are just as important as technical skill. Kedai888 encourages all players to approach poker with the right mindset – as a skill-based form of entertainment, not a guaranteed source of income.
For players serious about moving up the ranks at Kedai888, our VIP programme offers a range of exclusive perks — including access to higher-stakes tables, improved rake cashback, invitations to exclusive tournaments, and special rewards not available to regular players. The VIP programme is designed to recognise loyal Kedai888 players who play consistently and responsibly.
